Overview
Psychologists for Racial Justice is a community of psychologists and mental health professionals working to dismantle systemic racism. Through research, education and community engagement, it works toward a more racially inclusive and equitable field of psychology, and uses psychology to support collective healing from racism.
PRJ needed a website that explained its mission, brought people to its annual conference, Healing While Harmed, and gave psychologists what they need to earn continuing education credit.
What we did:
Designed and built the website in Next.js, from the mission to the team.
Set out the organisation’s work as four pillars: education, community spaces, events and advocacy.
Built a page for the annual conference, with its curriculum, speakers and registration.
Gave continuing education a page of its own, from registration to certificate.
Connected donations, the newsletter and a contact form across the site.
Mission
Advancing Racial Justice Through Psychology And Action.
The site opens on PRJ’s purpose and moves from vision to mission to approach: centring BIPOC experiences, and promoting racial justice through many kinds of action and support.
What We Did
- Vision: Dismantling systemic racism, for a more equitable and inclusive world.
- Mission: Research, education and community engagement, using psychology to support collective healing.
- Team: The psychologists behind the work, including Dr. Janet Helms and Dr. Maryam Jernigan-Noesi.
What we do
Four Pillars Of Impact.
PRJ’s work reaches professionals and communities in different ways. We set it out as four pillars, so every visitor can see where they fit.
What We Did
- Education: Workshops, training, professional development and resources.
- Community Spaces: Discussions for Communities of Color on racism-related stress and healing.
- Events: Virtual and in-person events on racial justice and systemic change.
- Advocacy: Resources and support for activism and advocacy.
Conference
Healing While Harmed.
PRJ’s annual virtual conference brings psychologists, clinicians and healthcare professionals together on racism in mental health systems and healthcare. The conference has a page of its own: why it matters, what it covers, who is speaking and who should attend, with registration one step away.
What We Did
- Curriculum: Eight areas, from racism in clinical practice to policy advocacy for healthcare equity.
- Speakers: The opening speaker, the keynote and the panellists, each introduced.
- Registration: Registration through Eventbrite, from the conference page.
- Upcoming events: The next event featured on the home page.
Continuing education
From Registration To Certificate.
PRJ is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The CE page sets out how credit is earned, step by step, alongside the programme’s goals and policies.
What We Did
- Set out the three steps to credit: register, attend the full programme, pass the post-test.
- Made the session slides available to download.
- Published the grievance procedure and the conflict of interest statement.
- Named the contacts for questions about credit.
Support
A Way To Take Part On Every Page.
PRJ runs on the support of its community. Every page ends with a way to join in: give, subscribe or get in touch.
What We Did
- Donate: Donations through PRJ’s fundraising page.
- Newsletter: Sign-up to the mailing list from every page.
- Contact: A contact form, with phone, email and social channels alongside.
- Policies: Privacy, terms and accessibility pages.
Outcome
One Place For The Work And The People Doing It.
